About the Recipe

Origin: Philippines
Dive into the world of Lumpia  – crunchy on the outside, yummy on the inside! These delightful rolls bring a taste of joy with every bite. Did you know? Lumpia is a popular snack from the Philippines that's loved for its crispiness and tasty fillings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat of choice, typically made with pork

  • 1 cup carrots, julienned

  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded

  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Lumpia wrappers

  • Chili or soy sauce for dipping

Preparation

  1. With adult supervision, cook the meat of choice until it turns brown in a pan. Drain any extra fat.

  2. Add carrots, cabbage, green onions, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables become tender.

  3. Place a spoonful of the mixture onto a lumpia wrapper and roll it tightly.

  4. Seal the edge with water.

  5. Ask a grown-up to help pour either vegetable oil or canola oil into a pot, enough cooking oil to cover the lumpia rolls.

  6. Turn on the stove with the help of a grown-up. When the oil becomes warm and giggly, you're ready to fry the lumpia.

  7. Carefully place your lumpia rolls into the pan. Watch them sizzle in the oil.

  8. Use a spatula (with a grown-up's help) to gently turn the lumpia rolls. They want to get golden all over.

  9. Keep an eye on your lumpia. When they wear a beautiful golden coat, they're ready to be lifted out of the pan.

  10. Let them rest on a plate with a soft towel to drain off any extra oil.

  11. Serve with chili or soy sauce for dipping.

Enjoy!!!
