1 pinch nutmeg (optional)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
3/4 cup lukewarm milk
For the Syrup:
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons sugar
For the Cheese:
1 cup cheddar cheese, sliced
Preparation
For the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix lukewarm milk and yeast. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
In another bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract.
Add the yeast/milk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.
Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Add raisins (optional) and knead for an additional 2 minutes.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour in a warm place.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface, then fold it into 4. Let it rest for another hour.
Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces, roll them up, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Let the dough balls rest for 25 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 320°F (160°C).
Score the buns with a small knife to create a grid.
Bake for 35 minutes.
Syrup:
Just before removing the buns from the oven, boil water and sugar in a saucepan for 2 minutes.
Brush the buns with the syrup as soon as they come out of the oven.
Serve:Â Let the buns cool and enjoy them with slices of cheese.
Enjoy!
